Is Demon Slayer worth the watch?

Demon Slayer has been out for quite some time now, if you’re still wondering whether to watch it or not, here’s my honest opinion. It is a good show but it is not as astounding as people make of it. I personally find the storyline quite dull as the outcome is the same for every villain. The anime introduces a villain, the main character almost loses, the villain reveals its backstory and he sympathizes and beheads them.

You might be wondering “Well, what is the show about?”. It all started with Tanjiro (Main Character) witnessing his family being slaughtered and his sister transforming into a demon. Soon after he met Giyu Tomioka (Demon Slayer Corps member), he was forced to join the corporation for his own sake. He then fought demons until he found the main source to hopefully revert his sister back to a human. The story repeats itself and eventually the main character is strong enough to fight the main villain.

❗SPOILERS: In the end, Tanjiro didn’t even land the finishing blow❗

❗and he even turned into the Demon King himself❗

Demon Slayer was initially published on the 15th of February 2016 and it ended last year (18th of May 2020). The television series came out in April 2019 and everyone went crazy about it. If you have a ‘weeb’ friend, they will surely bring it up and convince you to watch it at some point. If you ask them what is special about it they will definitely have one common answer, the animation. To be fair, it is amazing but there is nothing much to it other than that.

The overall review of the anime would be worth watching for the animation itself. However, the story seems generic but the creators are amazing at encapsulating every moment with the build-up and the music. So, the story would be very dependent on one's taste but the experience and animations is considered one of the best of our time.

Don’t get me wrong, I personally still love the anime and I believe most of us are looking forward to watching its new movie, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train. If you are unaware, it’s already released in Malaysia (6th March 2021)! What do you think? Do you think that Demon Slayer is overrated?
