The pandemic has led many families to opt for virtual gatherings during the holidays. On New Years Eve last year, more people were forced to ring in the new year at home for their safety.
As many couldn't travel, people turned to technology to stay in touch and connect with their friends and family. WhatsApp broke their own record of most voice and video calls ever made during the New Years Eve.
WhatsApp made a statement on Facebook, that a total of 1.4 billion voice and video calls were made from users all over the world on New Years Eve. WhatsApp calls have increased by more than 50% compared to the same day last year.
It is heartwarming to see many people putting in effort to stay connected with their loved ones. Through unprecedented times, technology has been helpful to everyone especially in maintaining relations.
