Tun Mahathir Praises Central i-City for Paving the Way for Thailand Investments

 

Our Prime Minister – Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad had recently scheduled a four-day work visit to Thailand to host the ASEAN summit. During the first day, Tun M was invited to Central World, Bangkok to launch the Malaysia Fest 2019, featuring everything Malaysian, ranging from Nasi Lemak to displays of Waus. 

i-City’s Deputy Chairman Dato’ Eu Hong Chew, alongside our Thai partner – Central Pattana Plc (CPN)’s, Dr Supachai Panitchpakdi, Honorary Chairman of Central Group of Companies and Mr Preecha Ekkunagul, President and Chief Operating Office of Central Thailand, was there to receive the Malaysian Prime Minister.

i-City had worked with CPN on their first international joint venture, which is the Central i-City Mall, located in the middle of Selangor’s Golden Triangle.

Our leaders briefed Tun M regarding the current Golden Triangle in Kuala Lumpur, and further introduced the future Golden Triangle in Selangor, with i-City located in the center. CPN’s reason in choosing i-City as a strategic location was because it had the MSC Malaysia status, advanced infrastructure, the best networking and various other technological-based facilities.

Our Prime Minister was very happy with the partnership, stating that Central Thailand can be a catalyst in encouraging more investors from Thailand to i-City and Malaysia as a whole.

After the brief, a meeting was held among Thailand and Malaysia’s leaders of the industry. i-City is very honored to be part of the said meeting, learning and understanding more of the future insights and possibilities that will improve not only i-City’s stance in the international industry, but also our country – Malaysia.
